Happy Easter to you and your family! I hope that you are enjoying your long weekend and are taking a break!
If you have been following me a while you would know that I am into horses and that I own a horse named Chilly. Getting back into horses at the age of 40 has been quite the journey. After about 20 years not riding I think that I definitely forgot everything that I learnt.
It has been a big task rebuiliding skill, muscle memory and definitely trust and confidence. It has been a multi year journey that has had a lot of bumps in the road.
Each year I have been building on both my skills and also my horses skills and our partnership.
At the start of the year I decided set myself a big goal for my riding.
Taking part in a week long trail ride from Tallarook to Mansfield over 6 days. 122km of trail.
You might ask Why? I have certainly asked myself this as well.
It would be that I can probably think of nothing better than riding my horse for a week in the countryside.
Is it going to be hard - yep - are we going to encounter difficult things on the trail-yep! Are there some unknowns. Definitely. It is also going to be fun and relaxing.
That is the thing with big goals - they are hard, they are unknown but they are also fun rewarding and challenging.
If I wanted to plan for everything then I would likely go next year or the year after. Am I 100% confident and sure of myself. Nope.
I have though implemented a basic plan thats good enough to see me through the ride. Yep - I can't wait!!
So if you have wanted to do something big then have a think about how you can start.
Create Big goals.
Goals that you are not even sure of yourself.
Goals that you are going to have to dig deep on.
Goals where you think I’m not sure I can do this.
There are going to plenty of people who will tell you all the ‘why’s’ you can’t do something.
They will tell you how hard it is going to be or is or I wouldn’t do that.
That’s is more likely about them than about you.
Find the people who will tell you to stick with it - that you can and that you will.
Those are the people to have around you.
You can do it!
As they say in horse-riding!
Keep riding xx
