80. Taking care of yourself before taking care of others

If you have been missing me in your inbox recently - I apologise, unfortunately my dad has been very unwell and I have been dealing with the stress and difficulty that comes with managing your love ones as they age.

As such I needed to reduce what I was working on to the bare minimum as we cared for him - as such the newsletter took a hit.

Also I didn't feel like writing and sharing wisdom about careers etc when I was personally struggling in this situation. 

Sometimes you just need to take some time out and pull back and you know what that is ok. Also when you have a job that is supporting, helping and listening to others you sometimes just need to refill your own cup or put on your oxygen mask first. 

I could have kept pushing through and not mentioned this at all but unfortunately I couldn't.  I have learnt over many years what my own boundaries are and when I need to retreat for my own health both mental and physical. 

My Dad is doing a lot better but his life has changed a lot and myself and my family are still supporting him through this transition.
