I hated catching the train. Yep.
Full of people,
Hot in summer,
Hot in winter.
Everyone sniffing, weirdos, drunks and school kids. You name it.
This is what I thought, for a long time.
Every time I had to go into the city it felt like a bit of a drag. I was completely overthinking it.
Where was I going to park the car?
Should I catch an uber?
If I park there then I will need to walk 10 mins etc etc.
What time should I leave.
What would I wear?
Every option seemed expensive and also a bit of a hassle.
In my working career I have mostly worked outside of the city and driven to a nice carpark (if that is a thing) and then walked into the office.
It seemed pretty easy, listen to my music, gym or horse stuff in the car for after work.
But the thing was attending an event or lunch - normally in the city - I was pretty locked out of. That was hard.
Starting my own business with a lot of clients and potential clients who work in the city I needed to completely REFRAME what I thought about train travel.
I couldn't over think and over plan every time I needed to go to the city.
So I started catching the train.
Sounds very simple.
So simple in fact if you catch the train regularly - you are thinking, 'What is she going on about?' and you know what it is!
Sometimes we overthink and make a bigger deal out of something in our own heads than it is.
These days I catch the train about - 3 times a week. Yep - I am a reformed train catcher.
And I actually enjoy it.
I usually read, listen to a podcast or stare into space or at others.
It is quick, it is pretty reliable, I sometimes get it with my husband and I have also met I lovely lady named Kate - who I don't know but have met on the the train.
Go figure.
What do you need to reframe?
What is it in your career that you need to reframe?
What do you need to start seeing the good in?
What have you got stuck in your head about?
Is it a work colleague?
Part of your job?
Or even that your career is stuck and you cannot do anything differently?
When you look at things differently - things are different.
You just need to start! xx
My action item for this week is:
What are you going to reframe?
What has been bugging you that you need to look at differently?
