Step 4. What is your Vision for your Career?
A vision helps guide making decisions as you go forward. What does this look like for you?
My vision for my career was to build a career that could support myself without being dependant on a man.
I never wanted to ask a man for money if I wanted to buy something for myself. This was a big driving force for me. I have a great husband and partner - James. We have both stepped forwards and back in our careers to support one another. I set myself up so I was not dependant on someone else. I set myself up so that I was dependent on myself.
Is where you are heading align and support your Vision?
Are the steps you are taking going to get you to your Vision?
Step 5. What is your Mission for your Career?
Your mission is a purpose statement and is something that you are going to do. It is what you do and for whom? And why?
Your mission is for right here and right now! It doesn't have to be for the next 5 - 10 years. It can be, but that depends on how well you know yourself and you know what you want and that takes time.
If you are struggling with what this is - then think about what this looks like for the next 6 - 12 months. It could be simple or it could be complex - make sure that it right for you. It should inspire you.
Step 6. What is your Purpose?
This is the overarching reason that you exist. This is how you conduct yourself and the impact you have on others and your environment.
If you get clear on your purpose then you will get clear on your goals and where you are heading.
My purpose is helping women in their careers and helping organisations support women.

Step 7. What are your Priorities?
Once you have worked through your Vision, Mission and Purpose - how do your priorities come into play?
This is the what and the how - this is when the rubber hits the road. You can’t focus on everything currently, so what are going to be the priorities?
This can depend on your life stage ie what else is going on in your life. Can you make the time to focus on the above and figure this out and take action. How are you setting yourself up for success.
It’s important once you have done the above reflection - how can you start making a plan towards your new future. How can you grow your career, based on the skills that you have. But also, based on what you want to do and the steps that you need to take next.
What does that plan look like and who do you need to help you in your network on your way.
Everyone feels undervalued or bored in their Career at some stage or another. We have all been there.
A lot of people won’t or don’t do anything about it then wake up 5 years later thinking what am I doing with my life. hy don’t I feel more fulfilled.
But breaking this down into steps can show you that it is possible. I is ok to want for more in your Career and now you can go after it.
Remember: you are already doing amazing work.
Now, lets amplify it by working ON your Career and growing your Career.
If you haven’t done this then answer the questions in Step 1 about who you are. If you have already done this then try Step 2 and pull out your job description and rate yourself.
